you know i see a lot of people talking about the changes in dialogue between the two “i was born to meet you” scenes but NO ONE EVER TALKS ABOUT THE DIFFERENCES IN THEIR BODY LANGUAGE
ok so in the tv series, kaworu has his arms behind his head, looking pretty relaxed. when shinji is talking about his feelings kaworu looks over to him and gives him this face and says “i was probably born to meet you.” his expression is content and kind of has a look of wonderment to it.
the 3.33 scene starts out pretty similarly with kaworu lying on his back with his hands behind his head. he’s once again listening to shinji talk about his feelings and kaworu seems to be enjoying himself
BUT THEN
HE PROPS HIMSELF UP TO STARE AT SHINJI i just. this time he was clearly more deeply in thought about shinji seeing as how he wanted to get a better look at him?? he no longer has that look of wonderment on his face, it’s more… knowing? something like that?
and that’s not even mentioning the draw me like one of your french girls pose he’s totally doing and the bedroom eyes he’s shooting at shinji.

In the last scenes of 3.0 after Kaworu died, Megumi Ogata couldn’t bring herself to say the rest of Shinji’s lines, so Anno just simply took them out. That’s why Shinji stayed silent all the way until the end of the movie… _(:з」∠)_

Ogata: During this recording, Anno-san said “Just perform as you think it’d sound” to me for a lot of the scenes, but in 3.0 a lot of the nuances of the lines changed when I got onto the stage for it. So when we were recording for when Kaworu-kun died, I thought “Oh no…how will I say these lines…” and got extremely troubled. And when that happened, Anno-san said “Hmm, so after this, Ogata-san doesn’t want to speak anymore, right?” And I said “Yes!”
“Then, from here on out, let’s cut all of Shinji’s lines.”
“Thank you very much!” —is what we said (laugh) In that moment, Anno-san had a 400% synchro ratio with Shinji! (laughs)
